Character name: Sadui (5-0316-5541-288)
Species/creature/race: Seed
Alignment: 5th generation seed. She lives at the Institute but wants to get out.
Gender:Female
Appearance: She is not quite perfect, but appears close to it. She looks closer to the younger generations than she actually is until one looks closer at her. She is very pale and she looks like she has no irises whatsoever. Her ears are different. She is very selfconcious but tries to be feminine because it makes her feel more human. Her eyelashes and eyebrows are white, but her hair is streaky orange and green.
Age: 15 yrs
Ears:They are uneven, one is narrow and longer and the other is broader and shorter.
Skin:Very pale, but almost natural. Not albino.
Hair: Her hair is orange-green and spiky. It's the only thing she likes about herself.
Height: 5'
Body built: Thin, but not overly so.
Tattoos/Peircings: She tattood a small sun on her shoulder with a compass that she stole during her lessons.
Clothes: She modified a hospital gown that was way too large so she made it into a 'dress.' She also covers her ears with a scarf she wears as a thick hairband.
Preferred weapons: She has a two small pistols which she usually keeps hidden in her dress since she doesn't like to be seen with weapons, even though she is only issued the when on an assignment.
Characteristics: Sadui wants desperately to live as a human. She tries to act as girly as possible. She knows some things about the outside world due to her special ablities. She is intelligent, but unpredictable. She is not very strong and doesn't particularily want to be.
Personality: Sadui's emotions are wildly erratic. She often becomes randomly angry or sad or happy for no reason whatsoever. She gets temporary obsessions that fade after a time. Once she started trying to write on all the walls, then threw a tantrum when she decided she wanted her walls white again.
Sadui has been mistaken for a younger, perfect seed whenever she has her hair covered. Whenever someone realizes she is less perfect, she sees their dissapointment. She has grown to hate the other seeds very much, especially those younger than her. The elder seeds she treats with scorn. It makes her feel more superior.
Likes: Her likes, other than her hair, change almost every month or two. She like pretending she's human.
Dislikes: Her ears, all other people, especially seeds.
Abilities:Sadui's right, larger ear can hear very low frequencies. It acts like an antenna. It is difficult for her to concentrate on one sound, however. If she tries to listen to one conversation she will often hear something else in the vicinity. Her left ear can hear high frequencies. This often makes it difficult for her to focus on any sound. She usually has earplugs under her hairband. It also makes her very dizzy, she can't stand while "listening in" and fints after a few minutes. She often becomes temporarily deaf after she strains her ability.
She can shoot well. She can sign and understand sign language very well as she is sporadically deaf due to her special ability.
Weaknesses: Sadui has barely any physical strength. She wants to be human, and wants everything that would make her seem more "normal."
History: Sadui was lucky as far as seeds go, the many tests never bothered her as much as some of her siblings, she went so far as to tattoo herself. Her watcher once told her that all children have to go to the doctors and she loves being the center of attention. She also enjoyed her lessons. Her watcher learned that the only thing she needed to convince her to do something was to tell her that humans did it. This subtle form of blackmail made her life much less traumatic that of her siblings.
other: In her 'listening in' she learned and adopted some human habits. She asked her watcher for make-up.

Sample Post:
Sadui stood in front of the bar door and licked her lips nervously tasting the stale smoke in the air before walking in with a slow staggering gait. She swung her hips side to side in an unnnatural manner as if she were dancing to some music. Yet even when she passed directly under the loudspeakers blasting a thumping beat she did not react or walk in synchronity with the rhythm. She sat down on a bar stool in a corner where she could watch the people easily. Sadui spun to face the bar, wincing at the loud squeak that was inaudible to anyone but her. She sat, looking fornlornly at the other people sitting elsewhere throughout the room. She listened with out trying to, catching snatches of conversation from every corner of the room. Have you?...then he...but what if?...maybe...you know you can't! She shivered and folded her arms across her chest as if trying to protect herself from the voices. Her brightly roughed cheeks stood up harshly against her pale skin. Combined with her luminous white eyes her face seemed corpslike and feverish. She felt slightly nauseous. There were so many different sounds! "I'll have a martini." she said almost silently. Then attempted to ask again for the only drink she knew. "I'll have a martini!" she said in a voice loud enough to draw attention from her neighbors. She blushed as she saw the heads turn and dug her nails into the palm of her hand. Why couldn't I be like them? Why? She bowed her head, closing her eyes to shut out the pain and lock away their alieness. The soft hum of some machine dronned loudly in her skull. She propped her face up in her hands, covering her ears even more. Her hair slipped forward from under her headband. She sighed. It was just another reminder of what made her different.

lol XD...She can focus on an area far away or a specific area and hear the things from there...*envisions those microphone thingies that when you point them at something you can hear things from right ther, and there only, reallly well...

so then you have a general, and a specific?

[moonscale]: heh? I don't have a tv to watch commercials on. Usually I feel I haven't missed anything but sometimes it seems like I'm missing a huge part of american culture :P

okay...we will just say that when you initiate your powers, depending on which ear you focus your concentration into, will determine the decible range that your hearing shifts into.

even still thought...

there is no difference I don't beleive, between vibrations from a very far far away position...and sounds made very lightly thus they emit few vibrations...

because they are both just weakened or soft vibrations reaching your ears.

it's like your trying to use your ears like a telescope, and a microscope...seeing things far away, and seeing things that are just tiny.

And I am not sure, but I don't believe that it is the same with vibrations. It could be...but to me it just doesn't make logical sense.

[moonscale]: sort of. Tachnicaly, she shouldn't be able to pick up vibrations from so far away. But then one shouldn't be able to move matter from place to place instantaneaously. So why don't we just gloss over the scientific aspects a bit? Its Science fiction after all.

[Fizban]: no...she should be able to pick up vibrations from so far away, if she has the proper ears to pick them up.

if you got the right equipment, you can do whatever...I am just trying to get you the correct biological equipment to justify your abilities.

The DNA in someones body could code for the genetic mutations that adapt someones brain to being capable of mentally turning the body into energy and then transporting it somewhere else,...or merely speeding hte bdoy up immensly, or opening a demensional rifts, assuming our universe has parallels for other demensions to exist.

either way, even if we forget about the scientific aspects I am still confused by your powers XD...

I get the antannea one...

but there is no such thing is a ~small~ sound. Because small is an adjective describing the size of something, and Sound is vibrations in matter, thus having no definite size or shape.

Do you mean soft sounds?

this power is again I just have to say...very precarious.

[Talkris]: Why not just say high frequency and low frequency sounds. Then she will be deaf to certain levels of vibrations. For example, someone's normal speech may be difficult to understand.

[Fizban]: Thats what I was trying to reason with before...

but high isnt necessarily far away, and low isnt necessarily close up, yet very quite like....-ness...>_><_<

[moonscale]: Ok then, but how does that work with the far away stuff? and some people do have that naturally, though I suppose not to such an extreme.
Its still confusing. Should I maybe just change it to something else?
I just thought of something. Think about it as if it were sight. On one eye would be like a microscope, everything would look huge. the other would see things far away, bit like a mini sattelite that keeps switching around.

[Talkris]: But, there is a differnce between sound and sight, is what he is trying to say. Sound is not measured in distance, it is measured in volume, pitch, frequency. etc.

[Talkris]: He isn't arguing the power, just your way of explaining it. I like the power, it just needs to be explained more clearly using the words I provided.

[Fizban]: precisely...I have no objection with the power, I think it is very useful, modest, and a good choice. Most poeple dislike settling with such powers feeling them to be quiant,...but I enjoy this character.

However, the way your presenting the power...if you straight out said, she has enhanced hearing abilities, the straight forward nature of that request would give me no qualms as to the acceptance of your power...

the only reason I have a problem is how your going about the description of the power...your making it more difficult both in your own characters useage, as well as everyone's understanding of how it works.

your making it more complex, and less functional, which to me seems irrational.

if you were to simply state that she had fucking awesome hearing, that would work to say that you could hear a pin drop if you wanted too, or a car crash 15 miles away if you activated your powers...

really really really good sense of hearing is what I expected....

but your all...making it confusing,...loyls >_<

[Talkris]: I like the limitations she has set. How certain sounds can not be heard. If you want, just say that she can only hear certain decibles. That the the scientific measurment of sound.

but a sound from really far away has a low decible...

and a sound like a pin dropping has a really really low decible as well

a plane crashing 300 feet away has a really high decible...
a meteor had a really high decible...

and evil screaming child in a restauruant or a mall foodcourt has a really high decible.

so what...one ear hears from decibles from 25-75 (imagining the chart was comprised of 1-100)

and the other hears from 1-24 and from 76-100 really well??

[moonscale]: Ya that sounds way better. I'm still uncertain though. Because I'm not so sure about the accuracy of you examples. I don't know the decible system that well but I'm pretty sure that the range you mentioned is way too small. Isn't 80 decibles the loudest you can listen to music before it makes you deaf? But I think I'd rather say the whole low and high frequency thing.
